The "Why" Behind Animas
Small Things Can Make an Impact
Hannah '20
"My first shadow day I was paired with a student that had been homeschooled, and wasn't very familiar with Animas or any traditional school for that matter. I tried my best to get him to open up, but all day it seemed like he was not enjoying his experience. Nevertheless I kept engaging him in projects and activities in class in hopes that something would catch his interest. To my surprise, Libby, the assistant head of school, received an email the next day from his mother. In the email she wrote about how 'he couldn't stop talking about Animas' and that he was actually excited to think about going to public school. It was after this shadow day that I realized that I can have an impact on students and their perspective on education. "
